Hellfire Pass, Bridge over the river Kwai & Kanchanaburi

Having so much fun we are very behind with the blog!!!! So rewind to Kanchanaburi 2 weeks ago. Took the train from Bangkok to Nam Tok which was great fun as a bunch of school kids & veterinary students joined us for part of the way. See pics.

The train travelled over a section of the Death Railway and crossed the bridge over the river Kwai on the way to Nam Tok. Then headed to Hellfire Pass which we found very moving. The Hellfire Pass Museum was brilliant. They had audio guides with excellent commentary from POW's which you listen to at various spots along the railway line. The descriptions of the diseases they got like beri-beri, cholera, malaria, typhoid etc sounded horrific.
In true backpacker style we stayed in a $5 bungalow in Kanchanaburi which has been our cheapest night yet!!!!

Just  had to add this funny sign: Cassabrangka is supposed to be Casablanca I guess!!

Next stop the island of Ko Tao.....
